Oticon More Hearing Aids

The best hearing aid of 2022 from Oticon is the Oticon More.  The Oticon More hearing aids are currently available as behind the ear (BTE) and receiver in the ear (RITE) styles.  They’re available with rechargeable or disposable batteries, and some offer a telecoil option for the phone.  The Oticon More is available in three technology levels – the More 1, More 2, and More 3.  The Polaris platform gives the Oticon More improved capacity, speed, and high frequency precision.

Oticon More hearing aids are available in 4 different styles: the miniRITE T, miniRITE R, miniBTE T, and miniBTE R.  The R style is rechargeable, and the T style has a telecoil with a disposable battery.  The rechargeable battery is lithium-ion which provides a full day charge after 3 hours for the miniRITE R and after 3.5 hours for the miniBTE R.  You can use the SmartCharger with built-in power bank or the Desktop Charger.  Each Oticon More hearing aid style is also available in 8 different colors.

Feature #1 – BrainHearing

Oticon uses a brain centered approach to the treatment of hearing loss which Oticon calls BrainHearing.  Our brain receives input from our overall sound environment and then focuses on the sounds we are most interested in.

Oticon hearing aids take a similar approach to provide access to the full sound scene in our environment.  Oticon reports that use of their hearing aids result in less sustained listening effort, improved sound quality, access to more speech information, and faster hearing aid adaptation in various listening situations.

Feature #2 – Extended Frequency Response

Oticon More hearing aids have an extended frequency response or bandwidth.  This means that there is more high frequency content for improved sound quality.  The Oticon More 1 offers a frequency response up to 10 kHz, while the More 2 and 3 offer a frequency response up to 8 kHz.  You also have access to the MyMusic program for improved sound quality for live or streaming music.  If you love music, the Oticon More’s extended frequency response provides improved music quality.

Feature #3 – Deep Neural Network

The Deep Neural Network or DNN is available directly on the hearing aid’s computer chip.  It’s a type of machine learning that the Oticon More hearing aid uses to process sound.  The Deep Neural Network is trained on 12 million real life sounds so that it can recognize different types of sound and also determine how important each sound is.  This allows the Oticon More hearing aids to improve a person’s ability to understand speech.

Feature #4 – MoreSound Intelligence

MoreSound Intelligence is signal processing that scans and analyzes the sounds around you with 500 scans per second.  It uses the deep neural network to process the sounds in your environment.  There’s a virtual outer ear feature that recreates ear acoustics, a spatial balancer for additional sound cues in complex listening situations, and a sound enhancer for extra volume for speech in challenging listening environments.  MoreSound Intelligence sound processing provides improved sound quality and clarity to help you hear your best so you can better understand conversations.

Feature #5 – Tinnitus SoundSupport

Tinnitus SoundSupport provides tinnitus masking sounds for tinnitus relief.  Tinnitus is also known as ringing in the ears.  Consult with an audiologist to determine if a tinnitus masker is appropriate for you.  Use of a tinnitus masker in addition to hearing aid amplification can help take your mind off of the tinnitus and make it less bothersome. Tinnitus SoundSupport features ocean sounds, broadband sounds like white noise, and noise that’s shaped to your hearing test results.  You can also stream any sound from a wireless device like your smartphone to the Oticon More hearing aids.

Feature #6 – Wireless Connectivity

Oticon More hearing aids will wirelessly connect to Bluetooth devices around you, and they feature Bluetooth Low Energy technology or Bluetooth LE.  You can stream phone calls and music from your smartphone or tablet to your hearing aids with a direct connection to Apple iOS & select Android devices.  Two way communication is supported with iPhone and iPad, so the hearing aids send sound to and receive sound from your wireless device.  The hearing aids can be used like a wireless headset for handsfree calling.  Select Android devices support one way direct audio streaming, so the phone’s microphone is used to pick up your voice for calls.  You can use the Oticon ConnectClip with Android devices for hands-free calls.

You also have access to wireless accessories for streaming sound to your hearing aids.  There’s the Phone Adapter for landline phones, the TV Adapter for the TV, a remote control, and the ConnectClip and EduMic wireless microphones for use in noisy situations or for Bluetooth streaming.  For more information about device compatibility with Oticon More hearing aids, check out the link below.  https://www.oticon.com/support/compatibility

Feature #7 – Oticon ON & RemoteCare App

The Oticon More supports two apps – the Oticon ON and RemoteCare.  Oticon ON gives you control over hearing aid settings like the volume and programs.  You also can use the Find my Hearing Aids feature, control hearing aid accessories, track your hearing aid usage, and connect to the Internet of Things for further automation with other devices.  The Oticon ON app is available on the Apple App Store and on Google Play.  If you want more information on this app, make sure to check out my previous Oticon ON app tutorial post HERE.  If you want to connect with your hearing healthcare provider remotely for hearing aid adjustments, you can try the Oticon RemoteCare app.
