Hi, I’m Dr. Derek, audiologist with ProFitHearing.com bringing you the best insight into today’s latest hearing aids and audio technology to improve your life!  If you have concerns about your hearing, always consult with your local physician or audiologist.

Today, I’m talking about the Bose QuietComfort 35 headphones from Costco.

Remember that listening to loud music for long periods of time can cause permanent hearing loss and ringing-in-the-ears (or tinnitus).  So, just make sure to enjoy your music at a softer, safe volume. I recently purchased these headphones and am excited to try them out.

Now, what I have today are the original QuietComfort (QC) 35 1 from Costco.  The newer, QC 35 2 is also available which has an extra button for Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant as well as Bose AR “Augmented Reality” for use with the Bose Connect App.

Bose QuietComfort 35 – Unboxing

See video below

Bose QuietComfort 35 – Key Features

1/ An all day listening design with soft covering on the headband.

2/ Acoustic noise cancellation.  Microphones on the headphones listen to your environment and use soundwave phase cancellation to cancel out the noise around you.  This allows you to reduce the overall sound volume of the headphones and listen in comfort.

3/ Active EQ, sound equalization.  This is used to improve the sound quality of your music.

4/ Bluetooth wireless with up to a 33 foot range.  There is also a wired option if you want to listen to devices without bluetooth.

5/ Lithium ion rechargeable battery.  20 hours battery life (using wireless), 40 hours (using wired).  A 15 minute charge will give you 2.5 hours of use.  The headphones are fully charged in 2 hours, 15 minutes.  If your battery dies, the headphones will still work however active noise cancellation and active EQ is disabled.

6/ Dual microphone for phone calls.  Two microphones work together to reduce noise so that the person on the other end of the phone can hear you more clearly.

7/ Voice prompts for bluetooth pairing

8/ Near Field Communication (NFC) for bluetooth pairing. Place the device near right earcup to pair, and repeat to unpair.

9/ Multi point technology, connection to two devices.  This allows you to pause music on one device and switch directly to a phone call on another device.

10/ Bose Connect App.  The app gives you even more control over the headphones.
