Shokz OpenRun

The Shokz Openrun bone conduction headphones are Shokz’s 8th generation product that was formally known as Aeropex but now with upgraded features.  It’s available in two sizes: standard or mini.  Standard comes in black, blue, grey, or red while the mini comes in black or blue.

I recently bought these headphones and am excited to upgrade from my previous, 5th generation Shokz Air headphones.

Feature #1Open-ear bone conduction

The Shokz Openrun bone conduction headphones are an open ear design meaning that they do not sit inside your ears but instead go around the top and sit in front of your ears.  Bone conduction uses vibration against the bone to send sound down into the inner ear.

You can listen to music or other content while still hearing all the other sounds around you in your environment.  This is perfect for running and being active outdoors while also safely hearing other sounds around you.

Feature #2Lightest headphones

The Shokz Openrun headphones are the lightest option from Shokz weighing just 26 grams which is 3 to 7 grams less than their other models.  These headphones are light enough to forget that you’re wearing them.  You can enjoy extended listening sessions in comfort.

Feature #3Waterproof

The Skokz Openrun headphones are waterproof with a IP67 rating, but they are not intended for swimming.  There is a moisture detection alert if they are wet when you connect them to the charger.  The magnetic charging port makes it easy to connect.

Feature #4Quick Charge

A 10 minute quick charge of the Skokz Openrun headphones will give you up to 1.5 hours of battery life.  1.5 hours of charging will reach a full charge, and the total battery life is 8 hours.

Feature #5Bluetooth 5.1

The Skokz Openrun headphones offer Bluetooth 5.1 which is a significant improvement over Bluetooth 4.  Bluetooth 5.1 offers two times the data rate, four times the range (which means a more stable connection to your device), and a lower power requirement making battery life longer.
